Guidelines For Submitting Artwork:
As a rule offset printing has strict requirements for preparing artwork for printing. Digital output is a lot more lenient. Both have their pros and cons depending on your application. Call us to discuss the best method for your project and file preparation.
Adobe Indesign:
PC/MAC
- Save your files as CS2 or higher
- Convert ALL type to OUTLINES
- Any placed images MUST be supplied separately from artwork...NOT EMBEDDED
- Send all linked files.
Adobe Illustrator:
PC/MAC
- Save your files as CS2 or higher
- Convert ALL type to OUTLINES
- Any placed images MUST be supplied separately from artwork...NOT EMBEDDED
Adobe PhotoShop:
PC/MAC
- CMYK or Grayscale in either .tif or .eps formats
- Screen at 150 lpi (lines per inch) and Resolution at 300 dpi (dots per inch)
Corel Draw:
PC
- Save your files as Version 12 or higher...
- Convert ALL type to CURVES
Publisher:
PC
- Use the prepare for commercial printer feature
- or make a print ready PDF version of your file (we will not be able to modify)
Microsoft Word:
PC
- Use the prepare for commercial printer feature
- or make a print ready PDF version of your file (we will not be able to modify)
Fonts:
- Provide all used fonts with each document
- Include any font used in a graphic that has NOT been converted to outlines
- PC or Mac fonts not converted to outlines may need to be substituted with another font. In the event that we do not have your desired font, the closest possible match will be substituted and an updated proof will be sent for your approval.
Miscellaneous:
Getting us the file:
- CD, Flash USB/Firewire Drive, Camera card.
- Email files under 10 MB
- FTP site for larger files.
- Use either WinZip (PC) or StuffIt (Mac) for protecting the files and for reducing file size
Documents:
- provide artwork as 1 up.
- allow a margin from artwork to the edge of page of at least 1/8" (.125) * unless a bleed is required (see question "What is a Bleed")
- for bleeds ...extend artwork past edge of page by 1/8" (.125)
